The Eastern Province Municipality has begun restoring a historic house on Tarut Island in the Qatif Governorate, as part of its plans for rehabilitating heritage sites in the region’s cities and governorates to attract visitors and tourists.
The municipality confirmed that the restoration of the heritage house comes within the framework of joint cooperation between the region’s secretariat and the Eastern Region Development Authority, to preserve the heritage and enhance the urban identity in the Eastern Province, in addition to paying attention to distinctive historical sites and rooting the values and archaeological elements.
She indicated that she counted the number of archaeological buildings in the region, which amounted to 124 urban heritage sites, 56 of which are capable of investment, stressing her keenness to maintain and restore heritage houses according to a work mechanism that preserves the homes of their historical value and their distinctive urban character, taking into account that after the completion of work on them, they become attractive heritage sites. For visitors and tourists, especially those interested in heritage.
