A recently published technical report revealed the development of technology to significantly improve smartphone battery life.
A researcher at the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology has discovered a substance that helps batteries slow the decomposition process, while retaining 95% of their original capacity over five years or more.
If this technology is applied, the phone will be usable for a much longer period than before.
The new material is called Bis-imino and is said to help batteries in smart devices maintain 95% of their capacity even after 1,700 battery cycles.
The new battery technology is expected to make smartphones more reliable in the long run, making them also more sustainable.
And it appears that the new technology will also benefit the manufacturers, which are expected to start entering new markets for smart devices.
