The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque documented pictures of the Maqam of Ibrahim, peace be upon him, which is located in the courtyard of the Mataf in the Great Mosque of Mecca, using the latest photographic technology.
The presidency commented on the pictures, saying: “It is a ruby from the sapphire of heaven, as our Prophet Muhammad – may God bless him and grant him peace – said: (The corner and the shrine are two sapphires of heaven. God blurred their light, and had it not been for God to obscure their light, they would illuminate between the East and the West).”
She explained that the shrine is square in shape and in the middle is the footprint of the Prophet Ibrahim, which are two oval-shaped pits, with a width, length and height of 50 cm.
