A meeting that included investors in the hotel sector with the Hotel Committee at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Makkah recommended the necessity of holding an expanded meeting for investors and interested people during the next few period, in addition to conducting an actual study that reflects the reality of the sector and what has been caused by the Corona pandemic (Covid-19) and the proposals and solutions aimed at raising them To the competent authorities.
This came during the first meeting of hotel investors with the Hotel Committee in the Makkah Chamber, which was allocated by the committee to discuss the challenges of the hotel sector in the city of Makkah, and to limit the obstacles that the sector has been suffering from since the start of the Corona pandemic, which was represented in the complete stoppage of activity, and the existence of contracts and contractual obligations Financial and labor obligations, which are represented by employees, suppliers, advance payments, government payments, payments of service companies, and others.
A number of investors in the hotel sector in Makkah called on the relevant authorities to consider the decision not to operate the three-star hotels, whose investors have been bleeding throughout the pandemic period without achieving any profits, which threatens many of them to exit the market, especially with the continuing electricity bills, rents and some Matters binding an investor in the sector.
The head of the committee, Ryan Filali, reviewed what has been achieved through communication with the relevant authorities, and the committee directs during the coming period, summarizing the implications of the Corona pandemic in the complete cessation of activity since the beginning of the pandemic until now, contracts and contractual obligations, as well as financial and labor obligations: ( Employees, suppliers, advance payments, government payments, service company payments … and others).
He said that the committee aims to support the sector and find the necessary solutions to save investors and mitigate the economic impact, in addition to proposing best practices after the crisis, and trying to provide financial support to the sector by communicating with the concerned authorities to find urgent solutions related to requesting government loans to companies to help them face the crisis. And he requested urgent aid for companies operating in the sector.
He said: We will organize a comprehensive forum before Ramadan, with the aim of discussing what will become the situation after the crown, through a group of workshops for the management and operation of hotels, and what we can offer to the guests of Rahman, and we have certainty that success will be our ally.
For his part, a member of the Board of Directors, Eng. Muhammad Burhan Saif Al-Din, presented a proposal to develop an integrated study on the market situation and the post-pandemic situation, through a questionnaire in which the sector participates to submit proposals from the reality of the situation to the relevant authorities.
He also presented a study developed by the Business Intelligence Center in the Makkah Chamber, which showed that Makkah includes about 4,800 dwellings dedicated to the guests of Rahman, and its income is currently zero, among the effects that have occurred for the whole sector, indicating that a preliminary stage will be before the return, pointing out that the concerned authorities are studying all possibilities, And all of this is related to the countries from which the guests of Rahman come, countries that have also been affected by the pandemic, which will cast a shadow over the seasons.
