From the sons of the Al-Bahr neighborhood in Jeddah, he grew up an orphan father, his mother and his vertical grandmother who took care of his upbringing and care. He had a talent for writing at an early time. He shone in it. He was linked by a close relationship with the writer Muhammad Hassan Awad. His mother, he never stopped writing, as he used to send his writings to Professor Abdel Fattah Abu Madian – his friend later – to publish them in Al-Raid magazine while he was still studying in Alexandria. Year, and his endless preoccupations.
He moved between governmental hospitals in several cities until the establishment of his private clinic, he participated in the establishment of the Jeddah Literary Club in 1975 AD, held the editor-in-chief of several newspapers and magazines and had several publications and lectures. He was nominated to head the Union Club for two terms and has many contributions in public affairs.
Dr. Abdullah Manna Al-Adeeb, a doctor and a human being, before all that, my relationship with him goes back to the late eighties, for he is my teacher and friend, but my older brother, he gave me support and encouragement, I learned from him and still is. I feel that I am his closest friend and I see him as well. I meet with him throughout the week in Al-Sawalin Literary (Adventist, Sunday, Trinitarian, Rabbinical, Quintet and Quintet) with the exception of Friday, which he spent with his family.
I participated with him most of the occasions in travel and urbanization, but for years he ignored my writings and did not refer to them at all with praise or criticism until I received a letter of reprimand from some side on an article that I had written. Based on that.
In Corona 2020, he designated me a weekly meeting, although he did not meet anyone due to the pandemic, so I was honored to do so.
He intended to present a program of thirty episodes about Jeddah in the coming month of Ramadan in which he talks about the achievements that were made, the agreements that were signed, the projects that were implemented, the personalities that contributed during the 50 years between 1925 and 1975 CE, and even increased my honor for assigning me work and tasks that help to complete the work.
He finally agreed, in his last meeting, one day before he was admitted to the hospital, about a joint work related to the development of a book that he had not printed talking about the period of establishment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that he had written earlier.
Today, while I am most important to write these words, I have looked at the Umm al-Qura calendar on this saying, “Work, so every facilitator is for what he has created.” As if, that is, the saying mimics Dr. Abdullah Manna’s literary journey that he started seventy years ago.
On Saturday, January 23, 2021 AD, Dr. Abdullah Mannaa died after a struggle with illness. There is no strength and no strength except in God Almighty, and we only say that the eyes will tear and the heart is sad, and we do not say anything but what pleases our Lord, and we are on your separation, Doctor Abdullah. May God bestow upon you the family of Manna, the Abu Zanada family, his friends and loved ones, and your best condolences, and may God have mercy on Dr. Abdullah and make him spacious in paradise, and we belong to God and to Him we shall return.
