The Saline Water Conversion Corporation announced last July that it had obtained the interest and desire of 37 companies and global and regional strategic and financial investment alliances for the allocation of the desalination and electric power plant in Ras Al-Khair. Last December, it announced the completion of the qualification procedures for the consortium of regional and international companies eligible to bid for the project, in preparation for participating in bidding for the project.
The Ras Al-Khair production project is the first of the corporation’s production groups to be privatized under the supervision of the Supervisory Committee for Privatization in the Environment, Water and Agriculture Sector, in coordination with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA), the National Center for Privatization (NCP) and the Saudi Water Partnerships Company (SWPC).
It is noteworthy that the Ras Al-Khair production system is one of the largest desalination systems in the world, producing more than 1.05 million m3 of desalinated water per day and 2,650 megawatts of energy.
